EXHIBITION REVIEW: A Printmaker's Journey
I was really excited when I heard Angie Lewin was curating an exhibition called 'A Printmaker's Journey', & even more excited when I heard it was going to showing at the Winchester Discover Centre, which is just up the road from AMDS studio.
Exhibition Dates: 11 March - 30 April 2017
Location: Winchester Discovery Centre, Winchester, Hampshire, UK
Angie Lewin is known for her printmaking studio & brand, St. Judes, which sells limited edition handprinted wallpapers and fabrics by some of the top UK printmakers.
Angie Lewin studied BA (Hons) Fine Art Printmaking at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design, followed by a year’s postgraduate printmaking at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts.
Angie creates limited edition linocut, wood engraving, lithograph and screen prints – inspired by skeletal plantforms seen against the sea and sky of North Norfolk and the Scottish Highlands. She is a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Print makers and of The Society of Wood Engravers.
So full of all of this printmaking promise; the show did not disappoint. The exhibition has free entry & it features amazing, inspirational & beautiful works by a range of artists & designers. Including paintings, ceramics, textiles & posters by Eric Ravilious, Edward Bawden, Alan Reynolds and Paul Morrison. And two friends of mine; Ed Kluz & Johnny Hannah. These works also sit alongside pieces from various stages of Angie Lewin's career.
The show is on at Winchester Discover Centre from 11 March - 30 Apeil 2017, but is touring around different locations; so check out https://www.aprintmakersjourney.infofor more information about locations & dates.
