Foxglove & Fern Botanical Print

This fine art print is beautiful reproduction of my pencil illustration of Foxgloves and Ferns.

The Fern is the most ancient of plants on the planet. And according the 'Witch's Garden' by Sandra Lawrence, early botanists where completely flummoxed by ferns. They do not reproduce using flowers, (and as the botanists were unable to believe there really were no flowers), they assumed the blossom was invisible. And anyone who managed to catch a fern in bloom would therefore, acquire powers of invisibility.

Foxgloves are poisonous and historically, it was said that if you put the leaves in a child shoes, it would protect from from Scarlet Fever. And more sinister was the idea that if you heard the bells of the foxglove ring, it was a warning of imminent death. So probably best not to touch them and to enjoy these beautiful blooms from afar!

This print is the perfect compliment to my busy maximalist wallpaper. Add one to a wall covered with my wallpaper as a gorgeous palette cleanser of sorts.
